National e-Discovery Counsel Joins Fios' Consulting Group
Dennis Kiker, Esq., Former Shareholder from Moran Kiker Brown PC, to Help Corporate Clients Lower the Costs, Time and Risks of Discovery Response
PORTLAND, Ore., February 19, 2008 — Fios® Inc., delivering comprehensive discovery management services for organizations compelled to produce electronically stored information (ESI), today announced that Dennis Kiker, Esq. has joined as a director in Fios Consulting. Kiker comes to Fios after spending more than 13 years representing some of the largest manufacturing companies in the United States. A shareholder of Moran Kiker Brown PC for over seven years, Kiker has served as national discovery counsel and designated e-discovery counsel for several of his clients. He specializes in bringing together in-house counsel, business personnel, IT staff and outside counsel to develop business processes that lower the costs, time and risks of discovery response. Kiker's addition is in direct response to demand by companies faced with frequent litigation, anti-trust, regulatory compliance and investigation issues for Fios' comprehensive litigation readiness consulting services.
"The explosion of electronically stored information (ESI) created and stored by companies, the amendments to the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure governing discovery, and ever-increasing court decisions penalizing companies for poor e-discovery practices have created an environment of fear and uncertainty for companies compelled to respond to discovery requests," said Sam Panarella, vice president and managing director of Fios Consulting. "Dennis' knowledge of the law, his background in counseling clients on e-discovery business process, and his direct experience helping corporations solve complex business challenges fit in perfectly with Fios' focus on providing clients with proven, repeatable and defensible solutions to address the challenges presented by e-discovery."
Kiker is dedicated to helping clients proactively plan for discovery and establish repeatable business processes that reduce the time, costs and risks in each phase of discovery. Before joining Fios, Kiker spent over 13 years representing large, Fortune 500 clients on intellectual property, product liability and commercial litigation matters. His knowledge of technology came from spending 11 years working in the computer and semiconductor industries, with a focus on manufacturing automation, process engineering and production control, prior to practicing law. Kiker holds a J.D., Magna Cum Laude, from the University of Michigan Law School and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. He is a frequent speaker and author and an active participant in both the Sedona Conference and DRI's electronic discovery and technology committees.
