Fios Exceeds e-Discovery Market Growth Rate for 2007 by More Than 250%
Fios Expands Services, Enhances Technology Infrastructure and Adds New Executive Team Members to Support Record Growth and Client Needs
PORTLAND, Ore., January 16, 2008 — Fios® Inc., delivering comprehensive discovery management services for organizations compelled to produce electronically stored information (ESI), today announced financial and growth results for fiscal year 2007. Revenue for 2007 more than doubled revenue generated in 2006 and exceeded the 2007 predicted growth rate of 28%1 for the e-discovery market by more than 250 percent. To support the company's momentum and market demand for its services, Fios made significant investments and advancements in its e-discovery services, technology infrastructure and executive management team.
"Fios' success over the past year is a testament to our focus in helping clients reduce the costs and risks associated with every phase of the e-discovery process," said Gerald Massey, president and CEO of Fios. "We look forward to building upon this momentum and adding new services that help corporations cost-effectively and defensibly address the constantly-changing e-discovery requirements dictated by the courts, regulatory agencies and the amended Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (FRCP)."
According to the 2007 Socha-Gelbmann 5th Annual Electronic Discovery Survey, the e-discovery market is still growing at a record pace and is targeted to exceed $4 billion in 2009. Furthermore, Gartner Group is predicting that spending on electronic discovery software technologies and service offerings is forecast to continue to grow at more than 35 percent annually through 2011. Responding to this market need, Fios made significant investments and advancements over the past year, including:
- Expanded e-Discovery Consulting Services — Fios continued the delivery and refinement of its consulting services to help corporations become "litigation ready." This encompassed:
- Expanding Fios' discovery response planning and assessment services to help clients establish an e-discovery business process that outlines people, process, technology, management controls and metrics.
- Supporting clients in FRCP 26(f) discovery conference preparation to help them negotiate a "fair and reasonable" scope of discovery and demonstrate good faith behavior through proactive disclosures of steps taken to preserve and collect ESI
- Formally introducing services around ESI content mapping to identify where potentially responsive ESI resides throughout the enterprise, assess its relevance to a particular matter, determine appropriate protocols for preservation and collection, and create a foundation for information governance.
- Augmenting services around early evidence assessment, review management and data culling to help clients lower the cost of review while managing risk.
- Enhanced Fios' Technology Infrastructure — Fios' review platform and technology infrastructure have seen the following enhancements:
- Major upgrades to Prevail® — Significant functionality was delivered to this award winning, web-based review application, to help clients lower review costs, simplify review workflow and minimize risk. These included:
- Real-time duplicate management — provides review administrators more than 32 standard permutations for organizing duplicates and enables reviewers to apply categorizations to primary and duplicate documents in a single process,
- Advanced search controls — enables reviewers to set the maximum number of items a search returns and limits the number of documents reviewed at one time.
- Improved processing scale — Fios increased its processing scale by more than 400 percent and its capacity to run multi-terabyte projects for multiple clients simultaneously.
- Greater flexibility and accessibility — To meet clients' growing processing and data management service needs, Fios implemented a new grid architecture to ensure maximum flexibility and increased operational hours to a 24x7 basis.
- Enhanced quality control — Fios added additional error resolution steps as part of its processing services to ensure exceptions, such as proprietary file types or files containing unrecognizable characters, are automatically identified and resolved.
- Bolstered Fios' Executive Management Team — Fios' employee base increased by more than 20 percent in 2007 and now totals over 165 employees throughout the United States. To support the increase in staff and services, Fios has bolstered its executive management team as follows:
- Sam Panarella has been appointed Vice President and Managing Director, Fios Consulting. Panarella has been instrumental in growing Fios' consulting services team and service offerings since joining the company in 2006.
- Brad Gragert has been appointed Vice President, Operations. Gragert has spent more than three years helping Fios' build and grow its channel programs and sales organization. Gragert will oversee Fios' client services and delivery teams.
- Jeanette Slepian has joined the Fios' management team as the company's Vice President, Marketing. Slepian is a senior marketing executive and licensed attorney with broad, multi-national experience, recognized for her dynamic leadership and innovation. She comes to Fios after a successful tenure with SAS Institute, where she served as president of BetterManagement.com (formerly an ABC Technologies' company) and enhanced SAS' web-based education and resource presence.
