Fios Reduces Cost of e-Discovery with Upgrades to Prevail®

Client-driven upgrades to award-winning, hosted review platform designed to eliminate redundancies, provide greater controls and decrease attorney review time

PORTLAND, Ore. — June 20, 2007 — Fios® Inc., the leading expert in delivering electronic discovery and litigation readiness services, today unveiled major enhancements to Prevail®, the company's award-winning, web-based review application. Advances in the platform's duplicate management, review categorization and search controls are designed to reduce the cost of e-discovery, eliminate redundancies and decrease attorney review time. The upgrades are targeted for public release in early Q3 2007.

"Fios' Prevail is one of the most powerful tools for navigating and reviewing the millions of electronic documents involved in complex litigation and governmental investigation," said Mike Harnish, chief operating officer of Fios. "Our newest enhancements stem directly from our clients' demands to speed up the review process while maintaining defensibility. We look forward to adding these and future customer-driven features to Prevail as part of our continued commitment to helping corporations and their outside counsel manage the e-discovery process more effectively."

Fios' Prevail can be accessed on a 24/7 basis by all members of the litigation review team, regardless of location, and provides support for file review in popular litigation management tools. Highlights of the most recent upgrades include the following:

  • Real-Time Duplicate Management — Prevail now provides reviewers more visibility to the number of duplicates in each results list and lets them apply categorizations to primaries and duplicates in a single process. With this automation, users can now apply categories to all items in a duplicate group; bulk categorize to a list of items, including duplicates; categorize duplicate chains; and update item descriptions or custom properties of duplicates in real time.

  • Intuitive Category Management — Prevail now features a more intuitive user interface with increased management controls, enabling reviewers to easily classify and track evidence throughout the discovery process. Among other enhancements, administrators can now use "drag & drop" controls to organize categories and manage which categories are visible by the legal review team.

  • Greater Search Controls — Reviewers can now set the maximum number of items a search should return, enabling them to more easily control the number of documents reviewed at one time. In addition, Prevail now offers the ability to change the default from "all documents" to "not reviewed" when filtering search results, thus reducing often-encountered duplicate efforts amongst disperse review teams. Lastly, Prevail users can now readily see a summary of the applied search criteria displayed from the results list.

Fios' Prevail has been named one of Law Technology News' top review platforms for e-discovery three years in a row, winning the top award in 2006. With Prevail, legal teams are provided complete and secure access to electronic evidence via the Internet, enabling them to quickly gain visibility into e-mail, word processing files, spreadsheets and other electronically stored information.
