In today’s uncertain economic times, organizations are struggling to meet stringent regulatory demands while containing costs and managing risk around litigation and electronic discovery. Internal controls and critical evidence may be compromised by staff turnover and restructuring, creating a situation ripe for legal risks. This webcast reviews e-discovery compliance scenarios where Legal and IT must unite and work together to understand the human side of legal compliance. Attendees learn to:
- Determine what questions to ask, to whom and why – leveraging the collective knowledge of the organization
- Understand the capabilities and limitations of technology – why qualified staff and repeatable processes are critical to compliance
- Determine the respective roles of in-house counsel, outside counsel, IT and e-discovery consultants – the importance of cooperation and collaboration, both internally and externally
- Develop strategies for all employees handling electronically stored information, inside and outside of a litigation context

David Chaumette represents corporations in numerous industries on litigation matters pending across the United States. Those matters have included oil and gas, securities, software licensing, and employment–related disputes. He has tried several cases to jury verdict has prosecuted appeals. He is also a leading lawyer on issues related to electronic discovery and data management. Chaumette holds degrees in aerospace engineering from Princeton University and Stanford University and his law degree from The University of Chicago Law School.

Brad Harris has more than 20 years of experience in the high technology and software development industry, working with Fortune 1000 companies on improving IT-enabled business practices. Over the past three years, Harris has directed product management and led e-discovery consulting engagements at Fios. As the Director of Fios' Discovery Center of Excellence, Harris is an expert in how people and information technology can enhance business processes to reduce cost and risk associated with responding to discovery obligations. He is a leading advocate for understanding the requirements around delivering efficient and legally defensible discovery processes, including managing content, evidence authentication, data collection and overall discovery readiness workflows.
