As a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer you will work with a small, highly-focused product team, collaborating with business stakeholders and development engineers to implement appropriate software solutions. The team uses an agile methodology, with a mix of automated unit and integration tests, and exploratory testing. The QA engineer will evaluate everything from the definition of requirements through investigating issues raised after the new release is in use in production. The candidate will have solid testing skills, and also contribute to process improvements, looking for ways to improve the testability of the system and to streamline tasks. They will combine a passion for quality with an excellent sense of humor and resilient, positive personality.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and review specifications for testability, and make suggestions for requirements;
- Identify risks in the application being developed, and in 3rd party applications integrated into Fios’ applications;
- Develop software test plans and test cases;
- Execute tests and track defects;
- Clearly communicate the status of testing, and the state of the software under test to the development team and management;
- Maintain and extend automated tests. May develop new test automated test suite for application;
- Mentor more junior QA engineers;
- Participate in process improvement;
- May lead a testing project;
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent;
- Eight years progressive experience in software quality assurance;
- Familiar with at least one programming language, and several scripting tools;
- Critical, creative and practical thinker;
- Positive approach to resolving issues and an unwavering dedication to getting the job done;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Must be a thoughtful team player with an infectiously positive attitude. Plays well with others;
- Working knowledge of defect control systems;
- Experience automating tests;
- Experience using version control systems;
- Ability to write SQL queries to manipulate and retrieve data;
- Experience using Windows XP, SQL Server, preferred;
- Experience with web-based systems, preferred.
